It wasn't that long ago super
slimmer Glennys B. felt her life had become a frustrating cycle of one
failed diet after another.
The
frazzled 50-year-old Canadian couldn’t remember a time she wasn’t
weighed down by extra pounds. Her first attempt at weight loss took
place in high school -- it set her up for decades of diet failures.
Then the long and widening road finally led Glennys to
eDiets and lasting weight loss!
Membership has its privileges. Over the past year,
Glennys shed an
incredible 77 pounds. By enrolling in her own customized program, the
determined dieter received personalized menus, handy shopping lists,
24/7 peer and professional support and much, much more. These online
tools enabled Glennys to finally achieve significant weight loss.
Since becoming a member of the leading online weight
loss program,
Glennys has gone from 209 to 132 pounds. Her 5’4” figure looks
fabulous!
“I think my first week I lost 5 pounds,” she tells
eDiets. “I ate quite
a bit. I was really surprised and pleased. After that, I realized the
program worked. I loved the fact it told me what to eat yet it was
still flexible.
“The recipes were quite interesting. Spices I never thought of trying
before are now part of my everyday diet. You learn to be prepared when
you go out places. I always carry things like Sugar Twin or Crystal
Light in my purse so I don’t get tempted when I’m eating out.”
Glennys, who works in retail, traces her motivation to
the day she
caught a glimpse of her reflection in a store window. She did a double
take before realizing she was the heavyset woman. That's when
the truth finally sank in.
“I had always looked at myself as the same person
whether I was light
or heavy," Glennys says. "It takes something like that to think, ‘Oh,
my.’"
Glennys tried the traditional brick-and-mortar programs.
But after a
few weeks she’d usually return to eating too much too often. Glennys
was disgusted with herself. When she sat in a chair, her oversized
stomach got in the way. It was far from comfortable.
So when banners for eDiets kept popping up on her
computer screen, she
decided to give it a go... even though she had her doubts. The eDiets
was balanced and the price was reasonable. Plus
she had everything she needed in the comfort of her own home.
After joining eDiets, Glennys studied the meal plan.
Once the menu was
set to her liking, she printed the shopping list and headed for the
grocery store -- but not before emptying out the cupboard and throwing
away all the unhealthy foods. Soon enough, her way of eating had
changed dramatically for the better.
“The menus are pretty generous," she says. "I do find that what I have
changed now is that I eat a small amount of meat and huge amount of
vegetables. It was just the opposite before. People would be floored if
they sat here at suppertime with the amount of cauliflower being passed
around. There’s very little pasta and potatoes and plenty of veggies
and salad.
“I need salad as part of my meal now. I have to have it.
If we run out of salad, I have to go get it.”
Glennys would keep the recipes and menus in a binder
that she still
uses today. She continues to rely on her eDiets resources despite the
fact she’s reached her goal weight. For the first three months, Glennys
followed the menus to the letter.
In addition to her own awesome weight loss, Glennys
watched hubby Glenn tag along and drop 25 pounds as well.
Glennys took eDieting seriously. Her approach to weight
loss was well
rounded. Not only did she eat healthily, but she also heeded the advice
of eDiets and began integrating exercise into her daily routine.
Walking three to five times a week for 30 minutes was
the activity of
choice for the dedicated dieter. It helped that Glennys had plenty of
people cheering her on from the sidelines.
Right off the bat, Glennys logged in to find like-minded
dieters who
were going through the same experiences. It was the overwhelming
support that made the first several months go off without a hitch.
“That’s when the greatest amount of weight came off,"
she notes. "I
talked to these ladies online and a lot of them had been there, done
that or were working at it. You report in. You do challenges as a
group. I wasn’t alone and there were other people... some people who
were struggling more than I was. It makes you feel better about
yourself and it makes you work harder.”
Then came the ultimate challenge: a three-month
journey in her motor
home. Would she be able to maintain her loss despite the unpredictable
nature that comes along with being on the road? The answer was an
emphatic “YES!” When Glennys returned home after her excursion, she was
down another 15 pounds.
Glennys says she never felt deprived.
She learned the key to staying
healthy and happy was moderation. For example, when she gave husband
Glenn permission to buy her three truffles for Valentine’s Day, she
worked them into her meal plan and figured them into her calorie
allotment. She would enjoy a single truffle each night.
“I kept setting goals that I was going to have a
chocolate binge when I
hit the first 10 or 20 pounds," she says. "But I haven’t had one yet. I
was just so successful I didn’t want to ruin it.”
