Atkins' Plan has not changed since his first offering in 1972! That plan was based on Atkins false notion that the calorie theory was a hoax.
The calorie theory (no, FACT) is the most accepted idea in all of nutritional science "it arises from Nature's Laws" and no one can break it.
Atkins misinterpreted much science and relied on much "bad" science to design his plan; as the science got better after 1983, he never changed his plan.
To read about every error and piece of misinformation in the Atkins plan, you'll absolutely want to read Dr. Ellis's complete expos? on the Atkins version of the low-carbohydrate diet.
If you make the mistake of using Atkins' plan, your likelihood of failing to lose weight or to lose as much as you want is high.
Is the low-carbohydrate diet one of the effective tools that you can use to lose weight? Yes. But Atkins' version is so fragmented and misinforming that it makes it difficult to succeed.
Important to weight control is that there's much to it, none of which Atkins teaches. He only tells you to cut your carbs, get some exercise, and take tons of his supplements (you'll spend about $200.00 per month if you follow this recommendation). That's not a bodyweight regulation plan "No, No, No" you need much more than this if you want success.
